Get in the Active Zone at Africa Oye!

Sports and Social will be meeting at the amazing Africa Oye festival this year!

They will be meeting on Sunday 18th June, the time is to be confirmed.

Africa Oye's Active Zone is hosted by Movema, a community dance project that focuses on diversity and wellbeing.

Over the weekend the Active Zone will include: Djagba Community Drumming, Osun Arts – African Dance with LIVE percussion workshop, Mulembas Da Africa, Beatlife, a Body percussion workshop by Sole Rebel, workshops by Afrodance Academy, as well as Capoeira for all, and various World dance styles with Movema including Bollywood, Cuban Salsa, African dance styles and Samba.

When the official timetable is released, the group will decide what workshop they will attend.

'Movema, established in 2009 is an award-winning world dance company run by four female artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, based & working in Liverpool & Bristol areas.'

Dance is a great way to get active, have fun and build your confidence. Movema found that 85% of their participants experience a positive change in mental wellbeing.

Africa Oye is a wonderful free festival in Sefton Park, celebrating the rich culture of Africa through music, food and community activities.

We know it can be daunting going to a busy festival, our peer supporter Peter will be meeting the group in a quieter area first, so you can arrive at the festival with a friendly group of PSS people!
