Artist Ian Smith's canvas piece Sunset Steam has been chugging along nicely and has now reached the station. Ian Smith shares his thoughts on completing his locomotive creation.
Hi everyone,
And welcome to the final stage four of Sunset Steam.
Finishing off.
I won't be going into detail with the canvas but overall, it's a case of just making improvements until I'm happy. I think you'll be able to see for yourself as the canvas will speak for itself when done.
On reflection.
I feel it has been a most enjoyable canvas to do; my main problem was the smoke from the loco – I just couldn’t get it right! - but besides this I don't think I've enjoyed doing a painting so much in a long time. When you paint for personal pleasure rather than for public approval it takes out some of the anxiety. For example, I worry where will I exhibit my work or when will I sell another picture and find myself striving for perfection. Painting gets easier without all this fuss, but I hope it won't be too long before there will be more art from me.

Images.
I've added two images the first is the original and the second one is a filter effect in black and white I feel the black and white pic shows how well the perspective is on the original....so I’m happy.
I hope you have all enjoyed the journey with the stages with Sunset Steam it has been fun to do.
Take care
Ian.
