Annie Kilroy

Senior practitioner

What’s your background?

I’ve worked for PSS for 21 years, 12 years for the Shared Lives Service and the last nine years for the Wellbeing Centres. In 2014, I got my degree in Social Care and Social Pedagogy, which is a person-centred practice that has underpinned my work in social care.

What do you do?

My role is split between management and service delivery, and I work across the three centres. I oversee the centres in the South of Liverpool - the Millennium Centre in Belle Vale, and Dutch Barn in Garston. This includes supervising staff and making sure we have a smooth running of the timetable and other work processes. I also deal with health and safety issues, completing wellbeing plans and delivering relaxation sessions. Every day is different but my aim in everything is to make sure that the people we support are at the centre of everything that we do.

What do you love about your role?

I love being part of a service that responds to people in need quickly. We offer hope when things seem hopeless. I love seeing people starting to make changes in their lives, smiling again and being able to start living their best life.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy doing Pilates, watching TV dramas, reading, and having family time.
