Paddy Morton
Wellbeing practitioner
What’s your background?
I completed my degree in Social Studies in 1990. I then qualified as a counsellor in 2000 and as an adult teacher in 2001. I have worked as a youth worker, teacher/tutor, counsellor, and course facilitator.
What do you do?
I facilitate face-to-face and online mental health courses as well as relaxation and mindfulness groups. I make wellbeing plans with people when they first access the service. I support the people who use the service throughout their journey. This might include things like writing support letters to assist them in their claims for welfare benefits or providing pastoral care when required. I also assist with the day-to-day administration of the service.
What do you love about your role?
I love working with people and being able to play a part in helping them to reconnect with their own inner resourcefulness. I also enjoy being part of a team who works towards the same goals together.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I’m a musician and I love performing my own music and other people's songs whenever I get the chance. I’ve also written music for commercial CDs and for theatre productions. I’m currently involved in a music project which aims to raise money to support young people's musical development.
