It’s a Farm Fest Success!

Here at PSS Wellbeing Centres we have a lot of love for our little piece of land where our Dutch Barn lives in Garston.

Therefore, it always makes a lovely occasion when we can open the gates to the wider community, allowing our close family and friends to see our little corner of the world where we like to get creative.

The Farm Fest is our annual celebration which puts on a feast for the eyes and the ears. We had magical stilt walkers welcoming attendees on arrival, an adrenaline pumping drum workshop with Busk With Us. Plus - for all those who dreamt of running away to the circus – there was the marvellous Bring The Fire Project, teaching fun circus skills to our audience.

We had a whole afternoon of singing and strumming thanks to the Strumbrellas, Making Days, The Choir With No Name and Sing! Sing! Sing! giving their own rousing renditions of beloved classics.

As the festivities were ongoing there were two PSS Wellbeing Centre Volunteers cooking up batches of delicious vegetarian and vegan lasagne made from our homegrown veggies. Thanks to our culinary duo Mark and Peter over 100 people were fed with a platter of lasagne, hot dogs and side salad which was appreciated and enjoyed by all.

Catering for such a vast audience is a huge challenge for any catering team and Peter and Mark left us all impressed with their flawless service on the day.

Peter said: "Farm Fest was a brilliant day, I was so happy to be asked to be a part of it. Our cooking crew has come on leaps and bounds this year, we all wanted to help Making Days a special event and cement our collaboration with Making Days in stone!"

He added: "The excitement on the day was there for all to see. Seeing all the happy smiling faces on the day makes all the hard work and effort worth it. I couldn't have done it without Mark, Tracy and Anne on the day. We all felt a sense of achievement afterwards.

"Cooking for me is a caring and nurturing act. It's the kind of ultimate gift for someone, to cook for them with love and passion."

Our PSS CEO Lesley Dixon and other leading members of the PSS team were in attendance too, so they could see first-hand how much hard work – and fun! – we have here at the Dutch Barn.

A big thank you must be given to Zest Event Management, Making Days and our volunteers, staff and performers at PSS - we all experienced an exciting and eventful day which was orchestrated perfectly thanks to you.

Roll on the next Farm Fest!
