Launch: 'It's About Time' a mental health podcast.

A brand new podcast series made by people who are passionate about arts and the media is set to launch in Liverpool, December 2020.

The project is facilitated by Our Time time bank (Richmond Fellowship) in partnership with BBC Radio Merseyside, Voluntary Arts England and Timebanking UK.

It’s the project Corinne, our culture vulture vlogger , mentioned on her videos and you might recognize some other familiar voices too ... massive well done to our PSS members who've been working hard to help make this project happen!

And here's the press release from our friends at Richmond Fellowship:

'Back in the summer, a group of local people were brought together online by a group of charities to make a podcast series about their lived mental health experiences during the pandemic. Many of the participants had never made a podcast before. Richmond Fellowship, the national mental health charity operates Our Time- a skills-sharing network for those who experience mental ill health and has been working with participants with a passion for media, arts and culture. The podcast project is called It’s About Time.

Applicants received specialist online training from BBC professionals, based at Voluntary Arts to produce a podcast relating to mental health, wellbeing and creativity.

"It's a brought a new light into my isolated life" commented one participant.

The podcast series is available to listen to here: anchor.fm/itsabouttime BBC Radio Merseyside will launch the podcast on their Breakfast Show on the 1st December and covers issues such as loneliness and the impact of the pandemic restrictions on mental health.

Participants have gained a variety of skills, including how to conduct interviews and promote their podcast on social media; they will also take part in arts and culture-related time banking activities which can count towards job seeking hours.

It’s About Time, will run until the end of March 2021 and is funded by the European Social Fund Liverpool programme. The project is facilitated by Our Time time bank (Richmond Fellowship) in partnership with BBC Radio Merseyside, Voluntary Arts England and Timebanking UK.

Vicki Pritchard, Manager of Richmond Fellowship’s Our Time community time bank said:

‘Through It’s About Time, we aim to upskill unemployed older people in the region who have a passion to work in media, arts and culture and provide them with contacts in the field so they can go on to further training and employment opportunities. By creatively uncovering personal stories and experiences, participants will provide podcast listeners with insight into what it is like to live with a mental health issue and the variety of approaches that can be taken to achieve and maintain wellbeing.’
