It’s a very dark place you’d never want anyone to reach.
Yet every 90 minutes someone in the UK or Ireland dies by suicide, a heart-breaking statistic which proves we need to do so much more to challenge the stigma and shame attached to experiencing suicidal feelings.
Tomorrow, on the 10th of September 2025, is World Suicide Prevention Day, a global event which, this year, is themed on changing the narrative on suicide. It’s a day to encourage openness, empathy and support – something which we should strive for every day.
The Samaritans have pieced together important advice on ways you can help someone experiencing suicidal thoughts including how to support yourself when struggling with suicidal feelings. To read, click here.
