What's Happening Liverpool

Some of the latest opportunities from Liverpool's wellbeing and creative communities.

The queer circle is where the LGBTQIA+mmunity can come together in a sacred space and practice developing compassion when we listen to one another. Each circle connects us to the Earth, all sentient beings, and a collective human consciousness. In these transformative times of global conflict and economic uncertainty, the queer circle is needed more than ever. When queer souls gather in a circle and make a commitment to each other to be in a circle with a spiritual center, they become a vessel for healing and transformation for themselves, their families, future generations and the world.

In the circle, queer souls learn how to find balance within themselves through self-awareness of their own healing process. Healing Circles assist queer souls to understand the past and help them to recognize their strengths. The queer Healing Circles provide a space for cultural activities to in a supportive environment that is culturally safe. The Circles focus on the decolonisation of the body, mind and spirit and use the medicine wheel: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of being, as a tool of self-discovery, empowerment and healing.

A Queer Healing Circle including yoga, reiki, sound healing, movement & meditation and a discussion space where Queer people can find healing and community together in a safe, sober space. Led by Jake & Moon.

An evening with Charlotte Vassell

Wed Jan 25 2023 at 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Waterstones, 12 College Lane, Liverpool

Join us for a wonderful evening with author Charlotte Vassell as we hear all about her incredible debut novel, The Other Half. The evening will be in-conversation with local author SE Moorhead. The Other Half Ever since being dumped by his beautiful French girlfriend, Detective Caius Beauchamp has been on a self-improvement spree. He's taken up YouTube yoga; he's been eating quinoa; hes finally reading all the books he couldn't be bothered with at school. He's even spending his Sunday morning jogging in Hampstead Heath. Which is exactly how he stumbles upon the body... The investigation plunges Caius into a world of triple-barrelled surnames, Classics degrees and baronetcies that couldn't be further from his comfort zone. Caius isn't easily intimidated, but this case could just be bigger - and full of more trap doors - than the main suspect's country house. Can he uncover the truth before anyone else's life is put at risk? "A scintillating debut which shifts effortlessly from the sacred to the profane by combining a cast of compulsively ghastly characters, a truly engaging cop, Ancient Greek, Instagram, a corpse on the Heath and a butler in McDonald's" - Harriet Tyce, author of Blood Orange

"Donna Tartt for the North London glitterati - sharp, funny writing meets tight plotting in a unique, new voice" - Ajay Chowdhury, author of The Waiter and the Cook "An incredible crime debut. The Other Half is the love child of Evelyn Waugh and Susie Steiner, I devoured it. Gripping, funny, enraging and incisive." - Erin Kelly, author of He Said, She Said, and The Skeleton Key "Imagine A Handful of Dust meets The Great Gatsby on a Northern Line tube to Kentish Town. That's The Other Half by Charlotte Vassell, a crime thriller as sharp, witty and energetic as it is bitingly satirical" - Janice Hallett, author of The Appeal and The Twyford Code "The Other Half is an incredibly accomplished debut - the writing is pin-sharp and skewers class and pretension with hilarious precision... Vassell is a unique and much-needed voice in crime fiction, and sure to be a new favourite for many!" - Cailean Steed, author of Hom Charlotte Vassell studied history at the University of Liverpool and completed a masters in art history at the school of Oriental and African Studies, before training as an actor at Drama School London. Other than treading the boards, Charlotte has also worked in advertising, as a headhunter and as a purveyor of silk top hats.
