PSS Day Trips – The Beatles Story

Have you been to The Beatles Story? It’s a fantastic, immersive experience that resides on the Albert Dock, Liverpool.

It is home to a wide collective of authentic The Beatles memorabilia, from their band sets to costumes, in recreated sets and scenes from the Swinging 60s.

On any given day you can see how popular this attraction is, it is clear The Beatles still have a sentimental stronghold in not only Liverpool, but the rest of the world.

On the 21st of August the PSS Day Trips got to taste just how influential Beatlemania was with a wonderful trip to the museum. It was a few hours of pure escapism, where you could listen to audio headsets sharing fascinating stories and facts about Paul, John, George and Ringo.

The museum led us from the dark dwellings of the Cavern Club to the bright, imaginative settings of the Yellow Submarine, with each section of The Beatles Story recapturing the aesthetic and atmosphere of the era.

An area which was a personal favourite was where John Lennon’s last piano was based, the infamous white piano used for his beautiful song Imagine. How moving it was to stand in that room, listening to his message of love and peace, which feels even more important now than ever.

Maria E. Roa Rodriguez shared her day at The Beatles Story with us.

Maria said:  “That morning I woke up feeling a bit low and struggling to leave my bed as often happens to me. But then I looked at my diary and saw I had a day out to The Beatles Story booked with PSS Wellbeing Centres - and Claire was nice and thoughtful to text me and remind me of the details.

“Once I left the house I already felt better and thankful to have a reason to leave the house and walk under a nice sun.

“The experience at the museum was a great addition to my day as I didn't have any expectations of it, but understanding the history of The Beatles better I could see how even they were having troubles at the beginning of their careers. This made me realise, “Even The Beatles had failed more than once before getting to the top, I can do it too!"

“Also, knowing better what kind of people they were and how they tried to help others, it touched my heart and made me feel compassion for myself and others too.

“In addition to this, Claire kept checking on me and waited for me at the end of this, which once more, made me feel taken care of and integrated.

“I can't be more grateful for having the opportunity of participating in this kind of activities and days out with PSS, it really helps me to feel better. Thank you very much for everything.”

A big thank you to the The Beatles Story for accommodating us so kindly on this trip. Visit them over on: Home - The Beatles Story
